Our Goals

THE HEALING CURVE’S GOALS

The dictionary defines “recovery” as “a return to a normal or healthy condition”. Sounds simple enough, right? For individuals fighting cancer, overcoming a traumatic illness or accident, living with a congenital deformity, or dealing with a prior unsuccessful surgery, “recovery” is far more complex than just “returning to normal.” A return to health may mean surviving disease or gaining lost physical functionality, but for many individuals, this type of “recovery” is incomplete at best, and they are left with physical and emotional scars that serve as a constant reminder of their struggle and trauma and prevent them from fully and successfully reintegrating into their families and returning to a “normal life.”

At The Healing Curve, we believe that everyone deserves to have a complete recovery, with both body and mind restored as closely as possible to what it was before the surgery, illness, or traumatic event. We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing financial assistance and support to individuals who require secondary aesthetic surgeries and procedures to complete their “return to a normal or healthy condition”, both physically and emotionally. In support of this mission, we have four goals:

  • Financial assistance: To provide financial aid to survivors of cancer, trauma, illness, birth defect, or prior unsuccessful surgeries so they can afford the highest-quality reconstructive surgery;
  • Awareness: To build nation-wide awareness of the importance of secondary aesthetic surgery for the emotional and physical health of survivors and trauma victims;
  • Strategic partnerships: To build strategic partnerships and outreach initiatives with national and local non-profits, charities, organizations, care-givers, and physicians who support our mission;
  • HOPE: To offer HOPE to survivors that they can have the complete recovery, beautiful body, and happy life that they deserve!

THE HEALING CURVE CAN HELP!

The Heading Curve, located in West Hollywood, is committed to helping individuals who have suffered a disfiguring life event get access to the state-of-the-art surgical techniques they need for a complete recovery. The Healing Curve is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding and support to individuals who do not have the financial means to undergo reconstructive surgery. The Healing Curve’s founder—Board Certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie—has extensive experience helping people obtain the medical and aesthetic assistance they need, including researching the development of prosthetic limbs and studying at one of the nation’s premier burn and reconstructive hospitals. Focused originally on working with breast cancer survivors, The Healing Curve now seeks to offer cutting-edge reconstructive technologies to all who need it, ensuring that cancer survivors as well as victims of trauma erase the unwelcome physical reminders of the past and accentuate their natural beauty.

If you or someone you know has a physical deformity due to a birth defect, illness, traumatic event, or previous surgical experience, but cannot afford the reconstructive surgery required for complete physical and emotional recovery, contact us today to find out how The Healing Curve can help. We look forward to speaking with you today!
