With the amazing advances in medical science in recent decades, scientists and physicians truly have the ability to offer so many people diagnosed with a dreaded disease like cancer or victims of a traumatic fire or accident a second chance at life. Yet more and more as a society, we are recognizing that focusing on “the cure” and on saving lives is not enough anymore, especially for patients whose emotional and physical recovery is hampered by permanent alterations to their body and appearance. Our goal must be to enable cancer survivors, accident victims, and others who have been physically altered by events beyond their control to regain their self-confidence, their emotional well-being, and their lives by restoring their appearance and enabling them to maintain their natural beauty.
The Healing Curve is a non-profit organization dedicated to enabling survivors to move beyond “the cure” and restore both their inner strength and their outward beauty. We are committed to providing survivors with financial assistance to obtain the reconstructive surgery they require to overcome physical deformities caused by cancer, accident, trauma, birth defect, or prior surgical procedure. The Heading Curve, located in West Hollywood, is committed to helping individuals who have suffered a disfiguring life event get access to the state-of-the-art surgical techniques they need for a complete recovery. The Healing Curve is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding and support to individuals who do not have the financial means to undergo reconstructive surgery. The Healing Curve’s founder—Board Certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie—has extensive experience helping people obtain the medical and aesthetic assistance they need, including researching the development of prosthetic limbs and studying at one of the nation’s premier burn and reconstructive hospitals. Focused originally on working with breast cancer survivors, The Healing Curve now seeks to offer cutting-edge reconstructive technologies to all who need it, ensuring that cancer survivors as well as victims of trauma erase the unwelcome physical reminders of the past and accentuate their natural beauty.
