Welcome
At The Healing Curve, we believe that all survivors have the right to repair the physical damage and return their bodies to their original, beautiful shape, in order to truly begin their physical and emotional recovery. Secondary aesthetic surgery is any surgical procedure designed to reconstruct, repair, or rebuild a part of the body that has been damaged by injury or prior surgery, with the intent of returning the body to its original appearance. Unfortunately, many insurance companies define these procedures as “cosmetic” and refuse to cover them, not recognizing that reconstructive surgery plays a vital role in enabling a return to complete health and overcoming another hurdle to full recovery.
- The Healing Curve’s mission is to provide individuals who have been disfigured by an illness, accident, or prior surgical attempt the financial assistance and support they need to undergo the secondary aesthetic surgeries they require to restore their natural beauty.
We believe that secondary aesthetic surgery has a powerful role to play in the lives of victims and survivors, and it is our mission to go beyond the “cure” and help make that dream a reality. Founded in 2008 by Dr. Gary Motykie to provide breast reconstructive surgery to women who have undergone mastectomy during the treatment of breast cancer, The Healing Curve has significantly expanded its mission to include anyone who lives with a visible physical alteration as the result of an illness, accident, previous surgery, or congenital defect, but does not have the financial means to afford it.
If you or someone you love has been physically affected by:
- A disfiguring accident or fire,
- A surgical procedure as part of a treatment protocol, such as mastectomy or Mohs surgery,
- A congenital birth defect,
- A prior unsuccessful or “botched” aesthetic or surgical procedure,
- An injury sustained in war or other attack,
But has been denied insurance coverage or does not have the financial means to correct the disability or disfigurement, contact The Healing Curve to find out how we can help.
